Bespoke Tailored Dress

This was another project created just after I had dived into the depths of being fully freelance in 2018. Commisioned by designer Sarah Blenkinsop, I was asked to create this piece influenced by classic pencil-dress shapes found in fashion with the addition of a set of flared set-in sleeves. At this point in my career, I had been working in mascot costume constructon for two and a half years, so this was quite the leap from my usual work life of sewing fur and foam every day.

This project involved quite a few challenges such as pattern-matching handmade batik fabric and drafting for a curvaceous figure – something I had not done since university! However I couldn’t have been more pleased with the end result. The outfit includes a concealed zipper at the back with hook and bar fastenings at the neckline.
